Welcome to PlanetRock. The PlanetRock platform is a community service tool designed to enable anyone to crowdfund long-term, solution-driven efforts that focus on education, children, wellness, the arts, community, jobs, and justice. The platform is solely owned and managed by the PlanetRock Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)3 pending organization. GENERAL INFORMATION
The PlanetRock platform is free and open to any U.S. resident, eighteen years or older. PlanetRock members are allowed to create and edit unlimited community service projects and receive donations directly into their accounts. The PlanetRock platform also allows project creators to offer special perks or rewards (products, services, experiences, etc.) as incentives to financially support projects. It is not necessary to create an account to financially support a project.
REGISTRATION
To create a project, project creators must first create an account. By creating an account, PlanetRock members are allowed to create and edit unlimited projects and receive donations directly to their accounts. The PlanetRock platform does not verify the identity of anyone who creates an account and therefore we cannot vouch for the integrity of every project. Users are encouraged to employ adequate discretion and judgement when determining what projects to financially support. PLANETROCK CROWDFUNDING
Project creators can choose either the “flexible funding” or “all or nothing” crowdfunding model for their projects. While the platform allows users to choose their method, PlanetRock strongly encourages “all or nothing” campaigns because they are, generally, more successful, and, more importantly, provide more inherent financial protection for backers. With “flexible funding”, project creators keep 100% of the money they raise (minus credit card processing fees), regardless of whether they reach their project goal. With “all or nothing” campaigns, backers are only charged if the project reaches its goal. PlanetRock strongly favors the use of “all or nothing” campaigns. For most projects, fundraising will last 30 days. Under special circumstances, however, PlanetRock may allow certain projects, depending on their size, scope, and potential, to last up to 180 days. ENDORSEMENTS
In certain circumstances, PlanetRock may, at our own discretion, endorse a particular project, organization, entity, or individual, especially when the projects they author offer the potential to substantially improve lives and/or living conditions. Highlighting a particular project, however, within the platform, or within any of our websites, apps, magazine, newsletter, events, etc. does not, by itself, constitute an endorsement of that project. Endorsements are clearly identified (verbally and visually) and will always include the phrase, “Endorsed by PlanetRock.” Unless a project has been officially endorsed by PlanetRock, we do not guarantee information provided by the project creator is genuine, factual, or accurate. Donors are encouraged to use their own judgement in determining the validity and worthiness of individual projects or causes.
PRICING
Use of the PlanetRock platform is free. Project creators receive 100% of the funds they generate through this platform, minus credit card processing fees. Credit card processing is handled by Stripe, a reliable and trusted third party used by thousands of companies. Stripe charges 2.9% + 30¢. per successful charge.
PRIVACY
PlanetRock is an unwavering advocate for personal privacy. While PlanetRock aspires to be the most transparent organization the world has ever known, this does not apply, in any way, to user information. Personal information obtained through the platform (email addresses, user IDs) will never, under any circumstances, be shared with a third party. Ever.
By using the platform, some personal information (email address) is available to project creators. This is done to foster community and to facilitate direct communication between creators and backers. To remove your email address from the platform, or to share inappropriate or questionable conduct, please contact us at info@planetrockfoundation.org.
PAYMENTS
To receive payments after a successful campaign, project creators must link a Stripe account. This is done through the member dashboard which is accessible after creating a user account. Project creators receive 100% of the funds they generate through this platform, directly in their personal accounts, minus credit card processing fees.
COPYRIGHT PROTECTION
We honor all intellectual property, and PlanetRock users are strictly prohibited from using, submitting, uploading, or posting anything that violates another person’s intellectual property. PlanetRock will dutifully comply with any law enforcement request that arises from a copyright or trademark dispute.
TERMINATION
Any project that is racist, sexist, homophobic, or, in any other way, abusive will be, at the sole discretion of the PlanetRock board, immediately removed from this platform. We believe love never fails.
